There is a great awakening taking place today in the area of oneness. Oneness means that we are all connected to the source. There is an
illusionary creation in which all things are separate. In this illusion we mostly feel separation. Separation from God, separation from each other,
separation in different religions and separation from our divine self. By using the word illusion I do not mean that it does not feel real, it is the only
reality that some have. We feel separation because of the blindness and the veils that are over our eyes hearts and minds. We have been taught separation from
a child, especially by religious teachings.
Religion is even in a quandary today over whether Jesus actually lived or was just an allegory. This should not cause us to break fellowship.
We are free to walk out our own journey and still be loved. It is not our job to correct people, it is to love people. I personally believe that Jesus
actually lived and demonstrated for us the truth of our being. If someone else believes that Jesus was only an allegory they do not lose my respect or my
love. It is more important to live in the reality of his teaching than it is to argue about his existence.
Those who are living with a separation consciousness say they believe what Jesus said but most of them do not adhere to his teachings. For
instance Jesus said “by this shall all men know that you are my disciples if you have love one for another.” In the past I have been a partaker of many
different religious thoughts. In almost all of them we were taught that we were right and the rest were wrong. There are some exceptions such as the unity
Church where you are accepted regardless of your beliefs.
I began to understand oneness in the early 70s. I certainly wasn’t walking in it yet but began to understand that if everyone who believes
in God would accept everyone with unconditional love the world would soon be won over. Religion is one of the main causes of separation. My grandfather was
raised a Catholic, when he left the Catholic faith and joined the Lutheran church he was ostracized by his family. My grandfather was an American Lutheran
and as a child I was raised a Missouri Synod Lutheran. When my grandfather came to visit he was not allowed to take communion at our church because he was an
American Lutheran and not Missouri Synod. This is a small example of thousands of divisions in the Christian denominations.
One of the best examples of oneness is in Jesus’s illustration of the vine and the branches. There are many branches but there is
only one life that flows through those branches. It we would really meditate on this we would have the revelation of oneness.
We all came out of the source of life, everything was brought forth by that life. There is only one Life but many manifestations of the one
life. In that life we’re at different stages of consciousness and understanding. The Scriptures teach that there are at least three stages of spiritual growth,
little children, young men and fathers. The little children cannot possibly understand what the young man does and the young man cannot understand everything
the father does. If we would look at each other this way realizing that we are at different stages of spiritual growth we would not feel the need to correct
each other. We could fellowship over our differences without causing division.
May we all have our eyes opened to the reality of oneness
